Who I Am

I would bring to the Planning Board years of experience in development, design, and negotiation, as well as a broad understanding of Winchester’s town government.

My husband and I own a family business focused on high-quality residential projects in Greater Boston. Volnay Capital, where I serve as the CFO, has partnered with towns throughout the region to bring housing, including affordable, market rate, and mixed use developments to communities of all shapes and sizes.

We recently undertook the renovation of a crown jewel historic property in Nahant that was slated for the wrecking ball—our careful work restoring the property while respecting its historic elements was featured in The Boston Globe. Helping build a company dedicated to high quality residential development and design has been a rewarding and highly educational experience.

I hope to bring that knowledge and love of the work to Winchester’s Planning Board this March.

I am a member of Town Meeting, proudly representing Precinct 7, and a sitting member of the Educational Facilities Planning and Building Committee (EFPBC). I also served as an at-large member of the State of the Town Committee, the Select Board convened body undertaking a financial planning effort for the Town. Finally, I serve as the Treasurer of the Parent Advisory Committee at Kid Connection Preschool and as the Director of the Ambrose PTO.

I live on Wedgemere Avenue with my husband and three children, all of whom attend or will attend Winchester Public Schools.

Why I Am Running

I decided to run for Planning Board because I believe that Winchester can experience development and growth while also honoring and preserving our history. With an updated Zoning Bylaw, design guidelines and historical expertise, Winchester can grow to support not only the residents who live here today, throughout all stages of their lives, but also those who are future and hopeful residents.  I also believe there is an opportunity to grow our commercial base to enhance the quality of life for residents.

As someone with a background in real estate, development and negotiation, as well as a broad understanding of Winchester, I believe I am well suited to help the Town deliver on these goals.

Goals:

  • Strengthen our Design Standards to encourage development that features high-quality, design centric, and historically appropriate architecture allowing the Town to achieve its growth objectives while preserving its charm and beauty

  • Work with the Housing Partnership Board and Affordable Housing Trust on strategies to encourage housing of all types, from market rate to affordable, and focus on the types of housing that the Town desperately needs, such as high-quality ownership opportunities for downsizing seniors

  • Continue to focus on mixed use / commercial and light-industrial where possible, including in the Main Street Multi Use District and in the Holton / Cross Corridor
